The Republic of Moldova\u2019s challenges faced during the presidential elections, as well as the country\u2019s European path, were discussed by Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi in Brussels during the informal meeting of the EU member states\u2019 foreign ministers dedicated to Moldova. According to a press release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the conference focused on ways the EU can support the citizens of Moldova and the necessary measures to counter Russian Federation interference.<\/p>\n

\u201dMihai Popsoi presented the significant challenges our country faced during the presidential elections and outlined the vision for combating the malign influence exerted by criminal groups supported by Russia, who aim to derail Moldova from its European path. In this context, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the importance of EU support to strengthen the resilience of state institutions, continue the reform agenda, fight corruption, and ensure sustainable economic growth for the benefit of citizens,\u201d stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press release.<\/p>\n

The Moldovan Foreign Minister also emphasized the importance of advancing the EU accession process, including completing the screening process and launching direct negotiations, starting with Cluster I, Fundamental Values.<\/p>\n

\u201dThe political and financial support of the European Union is essential to maintaining Moldova\u2019s European path and improving the well-being of its people. We are also grateful for the bilateral support from EU member states, which reaffirms that our country has reliable friends it can always count on,\u201d mentioned the Deputy Prime Minister.<\/p>\n

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the EU foreign ministers reconfirmed their support for Moldova\u2019s accession to the European Union.<\/p>\n

Mihai Popsoi\u2019s visit also includes meetings with the European Union\u2019s designated Commissioner for Defence and Space, Andrius Kubilius, the Chief of Staff of the President of the European Council, Pedro Lourtie, as well as the Head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, David McAllister, Head of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, Presidents of Political Groups in the European Parliament, and the President of the European Parliament\u2019s Delegation for Relations with Moldova, Siegfried Muresan.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi will have a bilateral meeting with the Foreign Minister of Italy, Antonio Tajani.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
