But a year later, the company\u2019s valuation had <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/10\/03\/bytedance-valuation-business-tiktok\/\">reportedly fallen 26%<\/a>, to $223 billion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TikTok\u2019s prospects in the United States may be <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/11\/08\/what-does-trumps-election-mean-for-the-tiktok-ban\/\">looking up following the election of Donald Trump<\/a> to his second term as U.S. president.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In April, President Joe Biden signed a bill that would <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/04\/24\/biden-signs-bill-that-would-ban-tiktok-if-bytedance-fails-to-sell-the-app\/\">ban TikTok in the United States<\/a> if ByteDance failed to sell the short-form video app. The company was given nine months to make the sale, with the president given the option to extend the deadline by an extra three months.
