This move aims to counter Spotify\u2019s growth in the audiobook space and also nudge some Amazon Music subscribers to purchase Audible books or plans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company noted that subscribers of the top plan in the U.S., U.K., and Canada can listen to to any audiobook of their choosing. Users can keep listening to the selected audiobook through subsequent billing cycles or select a new title.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cToday, Amazon Music introduces the audiobook category to a brand-new audience by making Audible\u2019s industry-leading catalog of audiobooks available to Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers,\u201d Steve Boom, VP of Audio, Twitch and Games for Amazon, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last year, Amazon increased the price of its Amazon Music Unlimited plan for <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/08\/16\/amazon-music-unlimited-raising-prices-prime-members-family-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">both individuals and families<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Audible\u2019s rival, Spotify, became the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/02\/06\/spotify-now-the-no-2-audiobook-provider-behind-audible-hints-at-daylist-inspired-suggestions-to-come\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">No. 2 audiobook provider earlier this year<\/a>. The company already includes\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/04\/02\/spotify-free-audiobooks-perk-for-premium-canada-ireland-new-zealand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a selection of free audiobooks with Spotify Premium<\/a>\u00a0in the U.S. and U.K., Australia, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand. Spotify also <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/03\/01\/spotify-launches-a-9-99-mo-standalone-audiobooks-service-for-its-free-users\/\">debuted an audiobook-only plan in March<\/a>, giving users on its free tier access to its catalog in the U.S. with a 15-hour listening cap.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In comparison, Audible offers a $7.95 per month plan with original audiobooks, sleep tracks, and podcasts. It also has a $14.95 plan, which gives you one title per month from the company\u2019s premium selection, including best sellers and new releases.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The e-commerce giant has been trying to bolster its recommendation engine for books across platforms. Last December, Amazon launched <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/12\/13\/amazon-competes-with-its-own-goodreads-with-launch-of-book-discovery-service-your-books\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the \u201cYour Books\u201d tracker<\/a> that integrated titles that you bought or saved from Amazon, including the ones on Kindle and Audible.
