Buchanan Bus Station was evacuated by police<\/figcaption><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Three men have been arrested after an police incident closed down Buchanan Bus Station in Glasgow.<\/p>\n

The bomb squad was called out after reports of a suspicious package at Scotland’s busiest bus station at about 13:10.<\/p>\n

BBC Scotland News understands the arrests are in connection with the recovery of offensive weapons.<\/p>\n

The station was evacuated and remains closed, while nearby Killermont Street was shut to traffic and people were urged to avoid the area.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Glasgow Caledonian University campus, situated across the road from the bus station, was also evacuated.<\/p>\n

A university spokesperson said: “We have evacuated our campus as a precaution. We will be providing further updates to our students in due course.”<\/p>\n

Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, also on Killermont Street, said it had cancelled performances due “circumstances beyond our control”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Police Scotland said three men had been arrested in connection with the incident and inquiries were ongoing.<\/p>\n

Station operator Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) apologised for the disruption and said passengers would be updated when it reopened.<\/p>\n

Stagecoach, First Bus and McGill’s and other bus firms all use the station.<\/p>\n

Commuters have been urged to check with operators on how their services have been affected.<\/p>\n

Diversion information can be found on their websites with some services collecting passengers at nearby bus stops as an alternative.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n
