{"id":18660,"date":"2024-11-24T16:30:41","date_gmt":"2024-11-24T16:30:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gpt.m2mbeta.com\/?p=18660"},"modified":"2024-11-24T16:30:41","modified_gmt":"2024-11-24T16:30:41","slug":"leicester-city-sack-manager-cooper-after-12-league-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gpt.m2mbeta.com\/?p=18660","title":{"rendered":"Leicester City sack manager Cooper after 12 league games"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">Leicester City have sacked manager Steve Cooper with the club 16th in the Premier League after 12 games.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Foxes were beaten 2-1 by a Chelsea side managed by former boss Enzo Maresca on Saturday &#8211; a defeat which left them two points above the relegation zone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Cooper took over from Maresca in the summer after the Italian had led Leicester to the 2023-24 Championship title and promotion back into the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Men&#8217;s first team training will be overseen by first team coach Ben Dawson, supported by coaches Danny Alcock and Andy Hughes, as the club begins the process of appointing a new manager, which we hope to conclude as soon as possible,&#8221; said a Leicester statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Cooper took over at Leicester following a stint in charge at Nottingham Forest, who sacked him in December 2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 44-year-old guided Forest to promotion into the top flight in 2022 and, after having kept them in the division the following season, he was dismissed midway through 2023-24 with the club in 17th spot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Cooper, who guided England&#8217;s Under-17s to victory at the 2017 World Cup, also had a two-year spell in charge of Swansea, taking them to the Championship play-off final in 2021 where they lost to Brentford. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<hr style=\"border-top: 2px solid #ccc; margin-top: 20px;\">\n<p><em>Source: <\/em> <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/articles\/c8dmndv2n6zo\">www.bbc.com\u2026<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Leicester City have sacked manager Steve Cooper with the club 16th in the Premier League after 12 games.
