The Israeli Foreign Minister, Gideon Saar, is set to visit the Czech Republic on Thursday, marking his first official foreign trip since assuming the role.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During his visit, Saar will engage in talks with his Czech counterpart, Jan Lipavsk\u00fd<\/strong>, focusing on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East<\/strong> and exploring opportunities for bilateral cooperation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In addition to discussions with Lipavsk\u00fd, Saar is scheduled to meet with Senate Speaker Milo\u0161 Vystr\u010dil<\/strong> (ODS) on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Gideon Saar, the leader of Israel\u2019s New Hope Party<\/strong>, assumed the position of Foreign Minister less than a month ago.<\/p>\n

Despite his previous opposition to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu<\/strong>, Saar has joined the current government, initially serving as a minister without portfolio before stepping into his new role.<\/p>\n

Strengthening Israel-Czech Relations<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Czech Republic has been a steadfast ally of Israel<\/strong>, consistently voicing support on the international stage. For example, the Czech government opposed a UN General Assembly resolution<\/strong> in September calling for an end to Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories within a year.<\/p>\n

Prague also blocked a joint EU statement<\/strong> advocating for a ceasefire in the conflict with Hezbollah, citing Israel\u2019s right to self-defense.<\/p>\n

Czech officials, including President Petr Pavel<\/strong>, Prime Minister Petr Fiala<\/strong> (ODS), and other senior leaders, have made multiple visits to Israel in recent months.<\/p>\n

Jan Lipavsk\u00fd was the first foreign diplomat to visit Israel following the October 7, 2023<\/strong>, Hamas attack. During his visit, he held meetings with then-Foreign Minister Eli Cohen<\/strong> and President Yitzhak Herzog<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
