German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock will visit China
\nin the coming days to discuss, among other topics, Russia\u2019s war against
\nUkraine, Tagesschau<\/a>
\nreported on Nov. 29.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

A spokesperson for Germany\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs
\nstated that Baerbock will make a brief visit to China on Dec. 1. On Dec. 2, the
\nminister will meet with her Chinese counterpart.<\/p>\n

Germany\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the war in
\nUkraine will also be addressed during the talks.<\/p>\n

On Nov. 25, Bloomberg reported<\/a>
\nthat G7 countries plan to increase pressure on China and \u201ctake appropriate
\nmeasures\u201d due to its support for Russia in the war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Russia-China cooperation at the forefront<\/b><\/h2>\n

In October 2023, the Pentagon announced that Russia had been
\npurchasing dual-use products and secondary military items from China for its
\narmed forces, including firearms, spare parts, navigation equipment, and
\nprotective gear.<\/p>\n

On April 7, 2024, Bloomberg reported that China had
\nintensified its support for Russia in the war by providing satellite imagery
\nfor Russian strikes on Ukrainian targets.<\/p>\n

On April 12, Reuters, citing unnamed U.S. officials,
\nreported that China continues to help Russia boost its defense production by
\nsupplying machinery, microelectronics, drones, and cruise missile technologies.<\/p>\n

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell stated that the
\nU.S. would hold China accountable if Russia achieves success in the war against
\nUkraine.<\/p>\n

China\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has claimed that Beijing
\nis not seeking to benefit from the war Russia started in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Following the NATO summit in Washington in July, the final
\ndeclaration referred to China as a \u201cdecisive factor\u201d supporting Russia\u2019s war
\nagainst Ukraine. China\u2019s delegation to the EU rejected these claims as slander
\nand urged the alliance to stay out of Asia.<\/p>\n

In late July, former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro
\nKuleba visited China for the first time since the start of the full-scale war.
\nHe said that after his talks with Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Guangzhou, he
\nreceived a clear signal that China is not looking for \u201ctemporary solutions\u201d to
\nthe peace process in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that
\nduring Kuleba\u2019s visit, China assured that it would not supply weapons to Russia
\nand reportedly supports Ukraine\u2019s territorial integrity.<\/p>\n
