She currently serves as the NFL\u2019s chief administrator of football operations, and she previously held high-ranking roles with the Jets, Dolphins, and Browns. Aponte started gaining momentum for GM gigs last offseason when she interviewed for the Chargers job, and she also met with the Commanders about a top front office role.<\/p>\n<p>In a sport that\u2019s historically been dominated by male leadership, Aponte\u2019s inclusion in these job searches isn\u2019t \u201cabout optics\u201d nor an attempt \u201cto demonstrate [the league\u2019s] commitment to diversity and women in leadership,\u201d per Russini. Rather, the executive has earned a reputation as a strong front office leader, with one source saying she\u2019d be the perfect choice to \u201ccarry out ownership\u2019s vision while creating streamlined processes, forcing accountability, and aligning the organization at all levels.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Due to her lack of scouting and player personnel experience, Russini says Aponte would likely be paired with an executive who could focus solely on \u201cthe roster-building side of things.\u201d This would better allow Aponte to handle \u201cstructure and alignment,\u201d and her leadership and strategy skills would make her the natural leader among the new hires.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cShe\u2019s a tough, no-nonsense leader with a better resume and background in football than most of the men up for these jobs,\u201d<\/em> one coach told Russini. <em>\u201cThis should be the year she gets a shot.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballrumors.com\/2024\/11\/mike-tannenbaum-rick-spielman-to-participate-in-jets-hc-gm-searches\">Aponte\u2019s name recently popped up<\/a> in relation to the Jets\u2019 front office opening. Former Jets GM<strong> Mike<\/strong> <strong>Tannenbaum<\/strong> was recently brought on by his former team to help assist in the GM search.
