PRESIDENT Joe Biden has issued a pardon for his troubled son Hunter following gun charges.<\/p>\n

The decision marks a reversal for the outgoing president who has repeatedly said that he would not pardon his son or commute his sentence.<\/p>\n

In a statement released by the White House, Biden said: “Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter. <\/p>\n

“From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Departments decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted.”<\/p>\n

He added: “For my entire career I have followed a simple principle: just tell the American people the truth. <\/p>\n

“They\u2019ll be fair-minded. Here\u2019s the truth: I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice \u2013 and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further.”<\/p>\n

“I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision.”<\/p>\n

The pardon comes ahead of Hunter Biden\u2019s December 12 sentencing for his conviction on federal gun charges.<\/p>\n

Hunter Biden<\/a> was set to be sentenced in a separate criminal case on December 16, after pleading guilty in September on federal tax evasion charges.<\/p>\n

The pardon spares the younger Biden from a possible prison sentence for federal felony gun and tax convictions.<\/p>\n

The move comes weeks before Hunter Biden was set to receive his punishment after his trial conviction in the gun case and guilty plea on tax charges, and less than two months before President-elect Donald Trump is set to return to the White House.<\/p>\n

It caps a long-running legal saga for the presidents son, who publicly disclosed he was under federal investigation in December 2020 a month after Joe Bidens 2020 victory.<\/p>\n

In June, as his son Hunter was facing trial in the gun case in Delaware, Biden ruled out a pardon or clemency for his son in an interview with ABC News.<\/p>\n

As recently as November 8, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre ruled out a pardon or clemency for the younger Biden, saying: “We’ve been asked that question multiple times. Our answer stands, which is no.”<\/p>\n

Family pardons are not unheard of in presidential history. Before he left office in January 2001, Bill Clinton granted brother Roger a controversial presidential pardon for a 1985 cocaine-trafficking conviction.<\/p>\n

Trump himself pardoned Charles Kushner, father of son-in-law and ex-advisor Jared, before leaving office in 2020. Kushner was just yesterday named the US ambassador to France.<\/p>\n

Hunter Biden was previously found guilty on all charges of his federal gun trial in June.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0turbulent life of Hunter\u00a0was thrown into the spotlight<\/a> as a federal\u00a0courtroom\u00a0heard shocking testimony about his\u00a0drug\u00a0addiction, which spiraled out of control after the death of his brother,\u00a0Beau Biden, in 2015.<\/p>\n

A 12-panel jury in Wilmington,\u00a0Delaware<\/a>, convicted\u00a0Hunter<\/a>, who chose not to testify in his defense, on all charges on Tuesday after deliberating for about three hours.<\/p>\n

Hunter stared straight ahead and showed no emotion as the verdict was read.<\/p>\n

The First Son shook hands with some of his associates seated in the gallery behind the defense table and hugged his attorneys, Abbe Lowell and David Kolansky, before kissing his wife,\u00a0Melissa Cohen Biden<\/a>.<\/p>\n

‘NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW’<\/h2>\n<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors hammered the narrative that Hunter Biden knowingly lied on a firearm form about using drugs when he bought a gun nearly six years ago.<\/p>\n

Federal prosecutors said that on October 12, 2018, Hunter walked into the StarQuest Shooters & Survival Supply store in Wilmington and purchased a .38 Colt Cobra revolver.<\/p>\n

The government said the president’s son answered “No” to a question on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives form that asked if he was using or was addicted to drugs or a controlled substance.<\/p>\n

“The defendant knew he used crack and was addicted to crack at the relevant time period,” prosecutor Leo Wise said during closing arguments.<\/p>\n

“There is no evidence that anyone else possessed the gun from October 12 to October 23, other than the defendant,” Wise added of the gun Hunter owned for 11 days.<\/p>\n

Jurors heard punishing testimony from those closest to Hunter about his years of drug addiction.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors even played audio excerpts from Hunter’s 2021 memoir, Beautiful Things, in the courtroom, which described in the defendant’s own words his trouble with drugs and his sobriety.<\/p>\n

HUNTER’S DRUG ADDICTION IN THE SPOTLIGHT<\/h2>\n

Federal prosecutors called three of Hunter’s exes as witnesses. All testified at great lengths about his crack cocaine addiction.<\/p>\n

Kathleen Buhle<\/a>, Hunter’s ex-wife, told the courtroom how she found a\u00a0crack pipe in their home<\/a>\u00a0and drug paraphernalia in his pickup truck.<\/p>\n

Buhle told jurors that her ex-husband acknowledged smoking crack.<\/p>\n

Hunter’s ex-lover and former sex worker, Zoe Kestan, shockingly testified how the First Son would smoke crack up to every 20 minutes from the moment he woke up.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile,\u00a0Hallie Biden<\/a>, the widow of Beau Biden, briefly described her romance with Hunter and how he introduced her to crack.<\/p>\n

“It was a terrible experience that I went through, and I’m embarrassed, and I’m ashamed of that period of my life,” a remorseful Hallie, 50, said.<\/p>\n

HUNTER’S LAPTOP<\/h2>\n

In mid-October 2022, members of Congress received a bombshell report into hundreds of alleged crimes found<\/a> on Hunter Biden\u2019s “laptop from hell.”<\/p>\n

Marco Polo, a group led by a former President\u00a0Donald Trump\u00a0staffer that has been investigating the laptop, sent its findings to all 535 members of the House and the Senate.<\/p>\n

District Attorneys and US Attorneys for the jurisdictions where alleged crimes by\u00a0President Joe Biden\u2019s\u00a0son took place have also been sent a copy.<\/p>\n

The group\u2019s founder Garrett Ziegler believes it has uncovered a total of 459 documented violations of state and federal laws on the laptop.<\/p>\n

It includes 140 alleged business-related crimes, 191 sex-related offenses and 128 drug-related crimes, the group claims.<\/p>\n

The release of Marco Polo\u2019s report comes after a 13-month-long investigation.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, on Friday, new Twitter CEO Elon Musk unveiled internal Twitter files and communications that revealed more information about the reasoning behind the company’s crackdown on The New York Post\u2019s scoop on the infamous laptop.<\/p>\n

ILLEGITIMATE BABY<\/h2>\n

In August 2018,\u00a0Hunter fathered a child with Lunden Roberts<\/a>, who is said to have been a stripper at a club he often visited in\u00a0Washington, DC.<\/p>\n

Hunter had first denied that the child Roberts was bearing was his and agreed to a paternity test to confirm the baby\u2019s DNA.<\/p>\n

The court ruled that the test established Hunter\u2019s paternity with \u201cscientific certainty,”\u00a0determining that Hunter did father the child while he was dating Hallie.<\/p>\n

MARRIED ‘AFTER DAYS’<\/h2>\n

Hunter married\u00a0Melissa Cohen<\/a>\u00a0in 2019 – just days after they met, according to reports.<\/p>\n

They welcomed a child together in March 2020.<\/p>\n

“I instantly fell in love with her,\u201d Hunter told ABC News. \u201cAnd then I’ve fallen in love with her more every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hunter<\/a>\u00a0had previously married Kathleen Buhle in 1993 and they had three kids – Naomi, Finnegan, and Maisy.<\/p>\n
