Prime Minister Browne Reflects on Changing Public Perception After J Truth Interview

Prime Minister Gaston Browne, during his latest appearance on Pointe FM, shared that his recent interview with J Truth significantly impacted public perception, helping counter the opposition’s portrayal of him as “wicked” and “cruel.” The interview, Browne said, opened the eyes of viewers who had only been exposed to negative narratives.

“I was shocked after the program; the number of people who messaged me and said they thought I was some kind of wicked, cruel man. They just had a totally different impression of me,” Browne revealed, attributing the negative image to repeated opposition claims and restricted access to his viewpoints. “J Truth said, ‘You’re not so bad; you’re a good man,’ and people are starting to agree with him.”

Browne suggested that opposition channels, including Observer Media, have contributed to his portrayal in a negative light by not allowing alternative perspectives. The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the interview’s reach, which allowed him to directly address accusations and outline his government’s achievements. He noted that many viewers had never heard his explanations on controversial decisions, which led them to reassess their views.

“This interaction showed people the other side, the decisions we’ve made, and the development efforts we’ve undertaken,” Browne remarked, adding that the conversation helped many see past the opposition’s narrative for the first time.
