The White House released a plan to advance research into the carbon-absorbing capacity of the oceans.
But the National Science and Technology Council’s research strategy, released Tuesday, could be short-lived because President-elect Donald Trump has dismissed the Biden administration’s climate agenda as a “green new scam.”
White House officials didn’t acknowledge those political risks during a webinar held Wednesday to discuss the carbon removal plan. But the incoming Trump administration is expected to decimate federal climate programs.
Instead, Biden administration officials argued there is a need for more studies on the climate mitigation potential of the seas.
