Prime Minister Edi Rama has shared a video showcasing Vermosh’s stunning winter landscape, covered by the first snow of the season. Describing the scene as an irresistible invitation for visitors, he highlighted the improved road access that makes exploring the Albanian Alps easier during the winter months.
“With the magic of Vermosh under the first snow, an enticing invitation to experience the Alps even in winter, thanks to the newly accessible roads,” Rama wrote on social media.
Located in the Shkodra region, Vermosh is a popular destination for both nature lovers and alpine sports enthusiasts. Recent development projects, including the urban renewal of the village, road reconstruction, and the creation of a Tourism Center, have helped transform the area into a year-round hotspot for both local and international tourists.
The village has been fully revitalized, with traditional alpine homes—once in ruins—now restored into charming guesthouses. The area now mirrors the scenic alpine villages of Switzerland.
Vermosh, the largest village in Albania’s Alps, sits at an altitude of 1,100 meters above sea level in a glacial valley. Surrounded by steep mountain slopes, lush forests, and alpine meadows, it offers breathtaking views. Known for its heavy snowfall, Vermosh enjoys nearly 100 days of snow each year.
Key activities in Vermosh include mountain climbing in the Malësia e Marlules region and hiking in the deep alpine valleys of Lepusha and Cemit, making it a prime destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
