“Azerbaijan and Armenia’s discussions on the opening of transport communications are not a new topic,” Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov told journalists, APA reports.

The minister highlighted that a specific clause on this issue exists in the 2020 Trilateral Statement: “There are commitments that Armenia took upon itself. This topic has been a subject of discussion for a long time. After more than three years of discussions, we believe the term ‘agreement reached’ is somewhat delayed. This agreement should have been reached a long time ago. If there is no official document on this yet, if Armenia has not started any work in this direction, then there are still open issues. In Azerbaijan, work has been progressing rapidly for a long time regarding the establishment of transport infrastructure within its territory, and this infrastructure will soon reach the border with Armenia,” he added.

Note that recently, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan mentioned the possibility of a decision regarding the opening of regional communications. He stated that Armenia and Azerbaijan are close to finding a mutually acceptable solution for the opening of regional communications.
