Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwai made an unannounced
visit to Ukraine on Nov. 15, according to Kyodo.

Japanese media report that Iwai’s visit aims to hold talks
with high-ranking Ukrainian officials. This step is seen as a move to reaffirm
Tokyo’s support for Kyiv in its fight against Russian military aggression,
which now reportedly includes North Korean troops.

Iwai arrived in Ukraine following his participation in a
regional economic meeting in Peru, becoming the first Japanese minister to
visit Ukraine since the appointment of Japan’s new Prime Minister, Shigeru
Ishiba.

The minister is expected to meet with his Ukrainian
counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, and may also hold talks with Ukrainian President
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a ministry representative said.
