Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) to applaud Vikrant Massey’s latest film, The Sabarmati Report, which revolves around the Godhra train burning incident of February 27, 2002. The Prime Minister, who was serving as the Chief Minister of Gujarat at the time of the tragic event, shared his thoughts on the film, writing, “Truth is coming out.”
Modi retweeted a post praising the movie and added, “Well said. It is good that this truth is coming out, and that too in a way common people can see it. A fake narrative can persist only for a limited period of time. Eventually, the facts will always come out!”

The Sabarmati Report delves into the aftermath of the horrific incident when the S6 coach of the Sabarmati Express caught fire at Godhra Railway Station, killing 59 passengers. Most of the victims were kar sevaks returning from Ayodhya after participating in the Ram Temple movement. This devastating event was followed by communal riots in Gujarat in 2002.
In 2022, PM Modi praised Vivek Agnihotri’s film The Kashmir Files, which was based on the mass exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from the Kashmir valley during the height of militancy in the state.
Since its release on Friday, The Sabarmati Report has seen steady growth at the box office. It opened with Rs 1.25 crore and experienced a 68 percent jump in collections on Saturday, earning Rs 2.1 crore. Its domestic box office total currently stands at Rs 3.35 crore within two days of release.
