Sexism is a reason why Kamala Harris isn't in the White House | Fred Flynn

I have a number of friends who voted for Trump, and I asked them. To a man, they said they just couldn’t vote for Vice President Kamala Harris. They called out reasons such as she’s from California, she waffles on issues, her action on the border, all kinds of simple, shallow justifications. And when I really probed, here’s what I finally heard:

The real reason they felt they couldn’t vote for Harris is because they could not envision a woman as the leader of this country. The glass ceiling still exists. It’s OK that women run some 150 million households in the America, but many still cling to the notion that the privilege of authority belongs to men.

A close friend asked me, “Can you imagine where we’d be with a woman in the White House?” I responded, “Could you imagine where you’d be without a woman in your house?”
