From the point of view of peaceful restoration of the country and territorial integrity, special importance is attached to maintaining the issues related to the peaceful settlement of the Russia-Georgia conflict at a high level on the international agenda and strengthening support, – about this The candidate for the position of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Bochorishvili, noted this during her speech at the joint session of the committees in the Parliament.

According to her, the task of the Georgian government is to reset the relations with the USA, which includes the restoration of equal relations based on the principle of justice, taking into account the interests of the parties.

“The past 4 years have shown with particular intensity how much foreign factors influence our country’s domestic policy and, conversely, how our country’s domestic affairs are used in foreign policy. That is why, at the same time, special courage and caution is needed in the implementation of foreign policy, taking into account the challenges we face. The main priority remains the reconciliation of the country and the peaceful restoration of territorial integrity. From this point of view, special importance is attached to maintaining the issues related to the peaceful settlement of the Russia-Georgia conflict at a high level on the international agenda and strengthening support. The Georgian authorities will continue to work actively and use all possible diplomatic and legal levers to de-occupy the occupied territories of Georgia. Georgia continues on the irreversible path of European integration. An outstanding priority will be the relations with NATO and the European Union. Our priority is the preparation of Georgia for EU membership. In order for the process of Georgia’s accession to the European Union to be successfully implemented, dialogue with partners is needed. The dialogue cannot be spoken in the language of ultimatums. It is necessary to seek constructive approaches on all critical issues between partners. I hope that after the approval of the new composition of the European Commission, we will have the opportunity to work intensively with the relevant services of the European Commission in order to take steps towards EU membership in the next 4 years, together with other candidate countries.

Of course, it is important to make the most of the existing formats of strategic partnerships, but we will continue to establish new platforms as well. We will promote regular bilateral political consultations with our European partners. Georgia will continue unwaveringly to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine within its capabilities and, of course, fully support its sovereignty and territorial integrity in the diplomatic arena.

The strategic partnership of Georgia with the USA is a priority and especially important for the Georgian government. Our task is to reset relations with the US, which involves restoring equal relations based on the principle of justice, taking into account the interests of the parties. In the coming years, Georgia’s neighborhood policy will be balanced and will be based on the protection of territorial integrity, sovereignty, good neighborliness, and strengthening of security. Georgia will promote dialogue and constructive cooperation between neighboring countries,” said Maka Bochorishvili.
