Opposition Leader Bernard Grech has accused Prime minister Robert Abela of “continuing to try to protect Clint Camilleri despite the fact that the Commissioner for Standards in Public Life found him just as guilty as Clayton Bartolo of abuse of power and breach of the Code of Ethics.”
During a press conference, the PN Leader stated that Robert Abela is “so determined to shield Clint Camilleri, despite his guilt of fraud, that during today’s meeting of the Parliamentary Committee for Standards, Government representatives voted against a Motion calling for Clint Camilleri to at least apologise in the House of Representatives.”
He argued that “just as Clayton Bartolo’s position became untenable after defrauding the public with his wife’s fictitious employment, Clint Camilleri’s position is equally untenable over the same case. Both Ministers were found guilty of abuse of power and breaching the Code of Ethics.”
Bernard Grech emphasised that “this is why on Monday, the Maltese people should once again gather in front of Parliament at 6pm. This is our country, and it is unacceptable for Robert Abela to defend Clint Camilleri instead of serving the people he is supposed to represent.”
