Abdulla Aripov re-elected as Prime Minister of Uzbekistan

AKIPRESS.COM – Abdulla Aripov was re-elected as Prime Minister of Uzbekistan at a session of the Parliament on November 20, the presidential press service reported.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated that Aripov will be able to effectively manage the activities of the government and mobilize the heads of ministries and departments to solve important tasks.
Aripov presented a program of action for the Cabinet of Ministers for the near and long term, after which he was approved for the post after a secret vote of MPs.
Abdulla Aripov was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan and Head of the Department for Communications and Information and Telecommunication Technologies – General Director of the Uzbek Agency for Communications and Informatization on May 30, 2002.
Aripov held the post of Deputy Prime Minister until August 2012, when he was removed: the resignation was associated with the conflict around MTS-Uzbekistan. After Shavkat Mirziyoyev came to power in 2016, Aripov was returned to the government – first as deputy prime minister, then he took the post of prime minister.
According to the country’s Constitution, in connection with the newly elected Parliament, the government of Uzbekistan resigned on November 19. On the same day, Speaker of Parliament Tanzila Narbaeva and her deputies – Sadyk Safoyev and Amanbay Orynbayev – were re-elected to their posts.
